Unrefined

"Sugarcane juice (pressed from the sugarcane grass) has long been used in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine for its hydrating qualities and electrolyte composition. The first time I drank sugarcane juice was in Egypt after a hot day spent visiting the pyramids of Giza. It cooled me down completely and gave me so much energy to continue my adventures without any sugar crash.

Unlike its refined white sugar counterpart, unrefined sugarcane is completely raw and retains the natural antioxidants present in this grass. I have my Master’s in Sustainable Development with a focus on Urban Food Security so I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this delicious beverage has nutritional, functional properties.

To make the most of this sweet beverage, we work with local chefs and entrepreneurs to balance the sweet earthy beverage. We use fresh ingredients like basil, lime, pepper, and strawberries while celebrating uniquely South African plants like buchu tea."
